10 best Underated games for PSP
1. Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice
This is a cop chase game and You are jumping between speeding cars, motorcycles, and helicopters like you are in some over-the-top action movie. The game plot sounds ridiculous and it absolutely is but that is exactly what will make you enjoy the game. While other games were trying to be serious with realistic storyline, Pursuit Force just embraced the fictional chaos. The sequel improved on everything, though finding a copy these days might take some hunting.

2. The 3rd Birthday
This game based on the Parasite Eve series probably confused more people than it entertained, but I found something compelling in its weird time travel mechanics. You are possessing different soldiers bodies to fight bizarre creatures in a post-apocalyptic New York. Sure, the story gets pretty convoluted, and the whole “dive into bodies” thing feels strange at first. But the combat? Surprisingly tight for a handheld shooter.

3. Chili Con Carnage
Before Deadpool games were a thing, we had this totally unhinged shooter starring a mariachi musician with serious anger management issues. The game is about a man who tries to hunt down his falther’s killers. It is a revenge game with some ridiculous slow-motion kills and Mexican wrestling references. The game mechanics might not appeal to you but if you want to experience some fun games, you can give it a try.

4. Exit
This puzzle-platformer from the creators of Space Channel 5 might look simple, but it will twist your brain into knots. You are guiding an escape artist through burning buildings, and every level feels like solving a Rubik’s cube under a huge pressure. What really got me in this game was how each rescue felt genuinely urgent. The minimalist art style probably turned some people off, but the graphics is still ok for this type of game in my opinion.

5. LocoRoco 2
The first LocoRoco was charming enough but the sequel refined everything that made the original special. In this game, you have to roll these blob creatures through colorful landscapes while they sing in their made up language sounds. The tilt controls work better than they have any right to, and the music will get stuck in your head for weeks. Get the game from the below link.

6. Resistance: Retribution
While everyone was focused on the other Resistance games, this handheld entry was quietly delivering one of the PSP’s best third-person shooters. This is actually a great game with good shooting and adventure style, it actually fills in important story gaps while providing solid action. The weapon variety impressed me and each alien gun feels distinctly different. You get the tom clancy type of game here with lots of mission to engage in.

7. Ys Seven
JRPGs on handhelds can be hit-or-miss, but Falcom nailed it with this entry in their long-running series. The real-time combat keeps things moving, and you really don’t need to know the previous games to jump in on this. What surprised me most was how well the story did balanced the epic fantasy elements with personal character moments. The soundtrack in this game are also as good as the game.

8. Tokobot
In this game you are to Control a squad of tiny robots to solve puzzles and fight bosses and it is also cleverly designed. Your little robot army can form different shapes including ladders, pots, hammers and wheels. While figuring out the right formation for each situation becomes genuinely engaging, you will do a lot of logical calculations. The presentation leans heavily into that “kawaii” aesthetic, which might not appeal to everyone, but giving it a try can change your mind.

9. GripShift
Part racing game, part puzzle platformer, all frustration. But the good kind of frustration, where you keep saying “just one more try” until it’s 3 AM. You’re driving a car through increasingly complex obstacle courses that require precise timing and spatial thinking. The physics feel just loose enough to be fun without becoming completely unpredictable. Probably not for everyone, but if you like games that make you work for your victories, this delivers.

10. Manhunt 2
This game have been banned in several countries and that is because of the level of violence in the game. But underneath all the moral panic was a genuinely unsettling stealth game. The PSP version, despite some technical limitations, it still maintained that oppressive atmosphere that made the game so memorable. Whether you think games like this should exist is a different conversation entirely, but as a piece of interactive horror can sometimes clear your head.
