Are you wondering why your webpage suddenly got penalized by Google? One possible reason behind it could be plagiarism. Google takes plagiarism seriously, even if it is unintentional, and it will flag the write-up. This is why it is necessary to check for plagiarism after coming up with any type of content for your website.
If you aren’t sure which tools to use and how to go through with the process, don’t worry. In this post, we will be looking at how you can check the plagiarism of your content using free tools available online. We will also review a few and let you know how easy they are to use as well as how accurate their results are.
What are Plagiarism Checkers?
Plagiarism checkers are content optimization tools that work to find plagiarism in your writing. Contrary to what some people may think, plagiarism does not only show up in content if it is done intentionally. Since there are a lot of sources available on the internet, your written material can have some sentences or phrases that match accidentally with previously published content. And for honest writers, it is this sort of accidental plagiarism that can prove to be a problem.
How to Check for Plagiarism Using Free Tools
While the design and layout of different tools can vary, the main process is more or less the same. When checking different tools to review, we found that most of them had a similar and generic interface, which usually involved a blank box and a ‘go’ button. Nevertheless, we will discuss some tools and their particular working to give you a better idea about each one.
Hopefully, you’ll be able to choose the best plagiarism checker for yourself once you are done.
Simplicity is an excellent feature, which can be appreciated in any software. The feature is also kept in the plagiarism checker of prepostseo. Use this tool for checking plagiarism is simple and free of cost. With other tools like grammar checkers and paraphrasers, it’s even more desirable.
When using Prepostseo, we found the tool interface to be particularly neat and simple. Although we should stick to being honest and mention that there are a lot of ads on this site, it is also fair to say that the process was quick. But, let’s not dillydally. Here is a step-wise guide on how you can use Prepostseo for checking plagiarism.
How to use Prepostseo Plagiarism checker?
- Go to your browser and search for prepostseo.com
- Find its plagiarism checker from the site.
- Next, click on the option marked Plagiarism Checker.
- Now, you need to bring your file over to the app. You can do this in three ways viz. 1) copy-pasting, 2) uploading directly, and 3) importing from G Drive/Dropbox.
- Once you are done with step 3, run the captcha and click on the ‘Check Plagiarism button.
- The process will start, and depending on the size of your file, you will get the results in either a few seconds or a little longer.
Things We Liked About Prepostseo?
There are a few things that we enjoyed with this plagiarism checker in particular.
Firstly, the process is quick. Unlike some other checkers on the internet, Prepostseo didn’t take up half a minute to give us the results.
And secondly, the plagiarism report format was awesome.
Instead of giving us a list-like, sentence-wise breakdown, Prepostseo generated the report in the shape of the original text. The plagiarized sentences were underlined in red.
You can click on each of them individually to see which source they match with on the internet. Let’s chuck a screenshot in here…
We took a whole paragraph just from randomwordgenerator. However, Prepostseo gave us three different plagiarized sources.
The content did show up as plagiarized but the exact source was only attributed to 20% of it.
While this tool can be useful for finding and removing plagiarism from a writer’s perspective, it won’t be very accurate if you want to reverse-search a piece of content.
But it helps us as far as we need it.
Things We Didn’t Like as Much
The website has a lot of ads. Left, right, top and bottom, you get ads.
That can make your experience a little annoying, and it can also make it difficult to navigate around the tool. You can buy the premium version to avoid this issue.
If you are looking to check plagiarism on a regular basis, you should opt for a paid plan.
And the other thing that didn’t work out very well was the word limitations. A free unregistered user can only enter up to 1,000 words in the box.
True, it’s understandable to limit the access on a free version. Peeps have to make money.
While Prepostseo involves a two-step process (entering the text and pressing the button) to give you a detailed report, Writer.com makes it even simpler.
I don’t think we even need to add a tutorial here. To get a plagiarism report on your text, paste or write out the content in the given box.
As you write, the software will scan the text and highlight the plagiarized bits of it. You will also be able to see the exact percentage of the match for each individual sentence.
We found this app to be exceptionally outstanding with regards to ease of use and simplicity. The interface is clean, aesthetic, and doesn’t confuse the user.
To check the accuracy of this tool, we took the same paragraph and ran the test on it. Unlike Prepostseo, Writer.com only picked up the exact source of the content. It did skip some sentences in between, but the accuracy with regard to finding the precise source was impressive.
What we Liked About Writer.com
Writer.com is very easy to run and operate. It doesn’t even require the user to press a button to execute the search. The plagiarism is shown at the side as the text is written. Another thing we liked about Writer.com is the freedom of use.
While there are also paid plans that you can opt for with this website, you can use the plagiarism checker as long and as much as you want with the free version. Lastly, the accuracy of this tool with regard to finding the exact source was outstanding. However, it did leave out a few sentences that should have been picked up as plagiarism.
Things We Didn’t Like as Much
Apart from the fact that a couple of sentences in the paragraph were overlooked, there is not much that we didn’t like about Writer.com. The software is free-of-cost, easy to use, and entirely web-based.
Using a plagiarism checker is usually very easy and simple. The process is explained on the tool page, and it doesn’t require the user to go through any unnecessary hassle.
However, for our readers, we did mention the working of two good tools that you can use for checking plagiarism in 2022.
